The small details matter. Your hands appear thin and delicate. Deep facial wrinkles and folds careen your face. What do they say about your age? If you feel hopeless about returning volume to your hands and midface, don’t despair. Radiesse can round out the areas where you’ve lost volume, giving your face and hands a more youthful touch. Visit Dr. Frances J Segal and staff for Radiesse Carlsbad.
Radiesse is a dermal filler, much like Juvederm, that plumps up skin. The active ingredient is Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA), delivered as microspheres in a gel. CaHA does not provoke a foreign body reaction; it is similar to teeth and bone in composition. Research has shown that CaHA injections can thicken the skin as well as increase skin elasticity, helping to tighten skin with excess laxity. Medical journals have also shown that Radiesse can stimulate neocollagenesis, or new collagen production, in addition to adding volume. Compared to other dermal fillers, Radiesse is long-lasting, with implant lasting a year to a year and a half on average.*
Upon injection, Radiesse immediately promotes volume as well as creates a scaffolding or temporary structure for new collagen production. The gel begins to dissolve after a few months while the CaHA continues to provide volume and trigger new growth. We inject into the deep dermis in order to avoid nodule formation or the development of small product concentrations, which can create bumps. You can expect unclumped, smooth and plumped up skin following your injection!
If your skin is becoming papery and translucent or if it is wrinkled and folded on your face or hands, Radiesse Carlsbad may help! However, you should not be pregnant, have a bleeding disorder or experience severe allergies, to Lidocaine or any other ingredients. Please inform us if you scar easily or have had other skin treatments, so we can ensure your experience will be valuable.
During your injection visit, you should expect to receive an injection with Lidocaine, an anesthetic that helps minimize pain. The injection may hurt just like any other, but the pain subsides rather quickly. Within a few days, you may experience some itching, bruising, redness or lump formation, as well as difficulty moving hands. Of course, more severe side effects such as intense pain during procedure, vision changes and white-appearing skin are worth mentioning to us.*
As previously mentioned, results show virtually the next day and may last over a year! Remember, results will vary on an individual basis.*
